I started painting in 2005 , after retiring from a successful 20 year career as the owner of a Ladies clothing store.
Although I have not had any formal training as an artist I believe that I have had a lifetime of preparation. I learned drawing skills and developed an eye for design and proportion from the fashion illustration courses I took while studying Apparel Design at George Brown College in Toronto. Then, throughout my retail career, my seasonal buying required me to be able to “hold” a colour in my head and to be able to mix and match fabric texture and colour.
In the summer of 2006, I met a group of Artists at the Mikelson show who invited me to join their Saturday morning painting workshop. In September of that year, I started painting with them under the tutelage of Joseph CT Wong , at the Phoenix Art Workshop in Steveston,
I began showing my work in the summer of 2007 and participated in “The H’Art of Steveston show at the Moncton St. Gallery in Steveston as well as the Mikelson Festival of Arts in White Rock, B.C.
Most of the inspiration for my work comes from my love of the outdoors and my garden.
Feel free to send me a message. I am available for commissions as well as for shows. I always love to hear what viewers think of my work. I look forward to hearing from you.
